We live in a beautiful world. A world we share with a scintillating array of wildlife. Sadly, the negative effects of our activities as humans have driven entire species to the brink of extinction. The world is at risk of losing many animals like the Bengal Tiger, Cross River Gorilla, Chimpanzee, etc. The list of animals in the endangered species list keeps increasing, therefore, we need to recognize the importance of these precious animals and also ensure that they don’t go extinct.

In line with this year’s theme for the World Environment Day – Go Wild for Life, we need to come together to celebrate all species under threat and also show a zero tolerance for wildlife crimes like poaching and smuggling. These crimes have far reaching effects on our environment, livelihoods, communities and security. Therefore, the onus falls on us to protect and preserve the planet for the present and future generations of young people.
